Sanzen Paper Saga
Once again Sanzen Tomoe River paper has become the hot topic of discussion in the planner community. The original Tomoe River paper, known for its thinness and excellent ink performance, was discontinued by Tomoegawa in 2021 due to rising production costs. Sanzen Paper Manufacturing acquired the rights to produce Tomoe River paper, and took over production in late October 2021. The Sanzen Tomoe River paper felt slightly different from the original, with a bit more drag when writing. However, many still appreciated its performance, especially its resistance to feathering and bleed-through. However recent batches used for 2025 planner production across all brands has shown to be inconsistent and is more prone to bleed-through.
